Minnesota Wild Season Recap

The Minnesota Wild did not complete their expectations for this past season. They were expected to have a year where they would be consistent and be a great team with the addition of Thomas Vanek and rising G Darcy Kuemper. They did do great in October, ok in November but completely fell apart in December and January. Then they acquired Dubnyk on January 14th and he saved the Wild’s season, going 27-9-2 with a 1.78 GAA and a .936 save percentage and helped them snag the 1st wildcard spot. Now Thomas Vanek didn’t find his stride until late in the season when playing with Charlie Coyle and Nino Neiderrieter, but he did end up having 21 goals and 31 assists for 52 points and was a -6. The Wild got past the St.loius Blues in the first round, 4-2, but eventually got swept by Chicago. Everybody was expecting a tight series, and maybe a Minnesota win, but Chicago thought otherwise. Minnesota never had any lead during the whole series. Now I want to talk about Jason Zucker. Yeo started him on the third or fourth line but soon changed him to play with Koivu and Neiderrieter on the second line. Zucker did get 21 goals and 5 assists and was -9 through 51 games and could’ve been a 30 goal scorer.

Players to look for next season

Zucker, Neiderrieter, Granlund, Dumba, Reilly, Vanek, Dubnyk

Thats all for now✌
