Right now the NHL is swirling with rumors with many players on the trading block. First off the team I’d say has the most talk about them is the Winnipeg Jets. The Jets haven’t really been much of a breakout team since moving from Atlanta despite having very talented players like captain Andrew Ladd, Zach Bogosian, Evander Kane, Dustin Byfuglien, and others leading their team. Now when you think of this then you have to believe changes are on their way for the Peg. Kane is probably the one who’ll most likely be moved in the event that Winnipeg decides to make a splash. Apparently Kane has had problems with management and has been on the trading block since last season. Kane is a young player with a lot of upside to his game including a 30 goal season in 2011-12. This year Kane in 37 games has 14 goals, 11 assists, and 25 points. His 14 goals ranks 42nd among all skaters. If he is moved it is believed the Jets want a significant return for the young forward. I for one, believe that Kane will be moved eventually.
Another player on the Jets who may be moved would be defenseman Dustin Byfuglien. Although he really hasn’t disappointed the Jets, some like Gary Lawless from the Winnipeg Free Press believes that he should be moved immediately for maximum value. Ever since switching from Right Wing to Defense he has shown amazing growth in his game and a team hungry for defenseman like Philly may make a move on him which would make sense considering their offer sheet on Shea Weber a few years ago.
Montreal Canadien’s forward Daniel Briere may also be on the move. He has found himself a healthy scratch many times this season for no apparent reason. He was acquired by Montreal when he signed a contract with them after being bought out by the Philadelphia Flyers. Briere had a two goal night a little bit ago even with short amounts of ice time. There isn’t really an expected team that he’ll go to.
Marian Gaborik of the Columbus Blue Jackets is almost definitely going to be traded. He has been one of the few great players on the Jackets and was traded to them from the Rangers last season. It’s not known exactly why he’s being shopped besides the amount of value he can fetch.
Some other quick rumors would be Andrew MacDonald (NYI) and Matt Moulson (BUF) being moved by the deadline. Moulson has said before that he likes playing under Buffalo’s head coach Ted Nolan and would consider resigning with the Sabres. MacDonald could be a valuable asset for the Islanders come trade deadline. Thanks for reading and more to come soon.
